Crop Research &Development Division
The Crop Research and Development Division, operating under the Department of Agriculture within the Ministry of Agriculture, carries out its research work primarily at the Bethesda Station and other government- managed agricultural sites, and farmer’s plots.
Our work focuses on:
- Validating agriculture technologies and conserving plant genetic resources.
- Collecting and disseminating research data to support effective technology transfer.
- Introducing and evaluating innovative methods, such as tissue culture, to strengthen agriculture in Antigua and Barbuda.
- Advancing greenhouse technology to improve crop yields and sustainability.
- We work in close partnership with national agencies, regional and international development organizations, as well as the private sector, to achieve these objectives.
Mission
To plan, develop, and implement crop research initiatives that improve agricultural productivity, sustainability, and economic viability in Antigua and Barbuda. This is achieved through scientific research, technological innovation, and the dissemination of knowledge to support crop production.
