Theme: “Innovate today Nourish tomorrow”
Secondary schools across Antigua were recognized today, October 16, during the World Food Day 2026 Awards Ceremony Presentation held at the Agricultural Extension Division in the PDO Building.
The competition challenged students to create TikTok videos promoting agriculture and World Food Day under the theme, “Innovate Today. Nourish Tomorrow.”
Jennings Secondary School secured first place, followed by Ottos Comprehensive School in second place. Sir Novelle Richards Academy and Antigua Girls High School both placed third.
Participating students received certificates in recognition of their involvement and efforts in promoting agricultural awareness among young people through digital media.
As part of the ceremony, Minister of Agriculture, Lands, Fisheries and the Blue Economy, Hon. Anthony Smith Jr., presented a tablet to Jennings Secondary School in recognition of their first-place achievement, while Junior Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Randy Baltimore, presented a tablet to Ottos Comprehensive School. Both Antigua Girls High School and the Sir Novelle Richards Academy will receive gift vouchers.
The tablets were awarded and donated to support the schools for their agricultural departments for their agricultural activities, particularly in the collection and recording of agricultural data. Students were encouraged to use the devices responsibly and take proper care of them, as they will serve as valuable tools in supporting their future agricultural studies, record keeping, research and practical activities.
The competition highlighted the importance of youth involvement, innovation and technology in promoting agriculture and supporting a sustainable food future for Antigua and Barbuda.
