Ministry of Agriculture Joins Antigua & Barbuda’s Carnival T-Shirt Mas with “Veterinary Squad” By: Tyreke G Thomas-Horsford

In a vibrant show of national pride and agricultural spirit, the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Fisheries and the Blue Economy proudly participated in Antigua and Barbuda’s annual T-Shirt Mas during the 2025 Carnival celebrations. This year’s group, fittingly dubbed the “Veterinary Squad,” featured Ministry staff and affiliates parading through the streets in colourful attire inspired by the nation’s rich livestock heritage.

The parade began at the Old House of Culture Division Building and made its energetic journey down Parliament Drive, through Queen Elizabeth Highway, onto Independence Avenue, then left onto Redcliffe Street. The revelry continued with a right turn onto Thames Street, followed by High Street, and concluded with a final left onto Independence Drive.

Staff members marched with enthusiasm and unity, donning costumes that represented three cherished animals in Antigua & Barbuda’s agricultural landscape: a pig, a rooster, and a cow. These symbolic figures were worn with pride, reflecting the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to animal health, food security, and national development.

Laughter, music, and camaraderie filled the air as the Veterinary Squad danced and waved to spectators along the route. The Ministry’s participation not only highlighted their dedication to agriculture and livestock but also reinforced the importance of community engagement and national celebration.

The Ministry extends heartfelt thanks to all staff, supporters, and onlookers who made this Carnival moment truly unforgettable. Together, we celebrate our culture, our people, and the animals that help sustain our livelihoods.
