BAJAN COMPANY PINNACLE FEEDS CONTRIBUTES TO LOCAL FARMERS by Carol-Faye Bynoe-George
9TH April – The Pinnacle representatives, Miss Tara Jean-Pierre and Miss Zaynah King have been very busy since their arrival on island as, they been engaged in activities such as the Agro Fest, radio interview, school visits, farm visits and presenting at meetings organized for poultry and livestock farmers.
The Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with Miss Valeria Edwards/Poultry farmer and Pinnacle Feeds (a Bajan company) held a meeting with poultry farmers. The main aim was to highlight the benefits of the feeds which according to observation significantly increase production and the health of the animals that consume these products. Another important aspect of the business trip are site visits and the advice shared with the farmers and students.
Past and present experiences shared by Miss Edwards indicates that the Pinnacle Feeds Company extends interest in the Agriculture Industry in general and not only on the sales of their products. Throughout the region, the company has been demonstrating its commitment by giving technical support to farmers and manufacturing more organic and nutritional feeds without the use of antibiotics, hormones and preservatives.
It was hoped that our farmers would have capitalized on the kind offers since they are free of charge but disappointingly from over a hundred and sixty registered poultry only twelve (12) spared the time to attend. Representing the Ministry of Agriculture were Dr. Kellman/Veterinarian and Ms. Bynoe-George/Communications Officer both of whom were very disappointed by the turn-out of the first meeting but remain hopeful for the second meeting scheduled for today, 10th April, commencing at 4:30p.m., in the Multipurpose VIP Lounge.
