CELEBRATING A SUCCESSFUL COMMUNITY- BEAUTIFICATION FESTIVAL 2024 BY MINISTRY OF SOCIAL TRANSFORMATION
The Community Development and Citizens’ Engagement Division under the Ministry of Social Transformation successfully hosted the Community Gardens and Beautification Festival 2024 on Thursday, December 12th, at Casa Palmadita, Fitches Creek.
Held under the theme “Think Beautification for the Nation’s Health and Wealth,” the annual competition focused on enhancing environmental cleanliness, promoting civic pride, and celebrating the unique histories of communities across Antigua and Barbuda. Participants competed in various categories: Herb and Spice Gardens, Fruits and Vegetable Gardens, Flower Gardens, Water Gardens, Stone and Ornamental Gardens, and Best Kept Community.
Additionally, the festival featured a Poetry and Research segment for youths aged 7-20, fostering creativity and community engagement. A dedicated team of judges and stakeholders facilitated workshops and oversaw the adjudication process, resulting in the recognition of outstanding contributions. This year’s winners included Mrs Joy Meade (Overall Home Category), Indies Greens (Overall Business Category), and Fitches Creek Residents Association (Best Kept Community).
The Ministry extends its gratitude to all sponsors and supporters who contributed to the success of the festival, promoting community collaboration and sustainable practices for the future of Antigua and Barbuda.
