The Ministry of Education’s Agricultural Cream of the Crop Students Empowerment Workshop
On Thursday 5th September, the Ministry of Education (MoE) held a youth empowerment workshop for the “Cream of the Crop” Agricultural students from all the government secondary schools. Under the stewardship of Mrs. Nicolette Francis/Agricultural Science Education Officer, the students were invited to participate in this exercise similar to one previously held for primary and secondary schools’ teachers in late August days before the commencement of the new academic school year.
With the motto “Growing Greatness” at the realm, the MoE management decided on the necessity for the inputs from all relevant stakeholders to be included in an effort to improve the subject area and for the futuristic plans for the agricultural sector. Deliberation on matters such as an overview of the academic year 2023/2024, activities for the academic year 2024/2025, expectations, requirements, constraints and CXC were the main focus of this exercise with the anticipation and hope for tremendous improvements going forward. It was reiterated by Mrs. Francis that the youth are the future and she assured them that they can count on her unwavering support.
A total of sixteen (16) aspiring young agriculturalists were in attendance, representing their schools with the exception of the Ottos Comprehensive School and All Saints Secondary School. Awards were given to two students that were early or on time as an incentive for their efforts and all the participants received copies of the Agriculture on the Move, De Magazine distributed by Carol-Faye Bynoe-George/Head- MOA Communications Unit after she made a presentation pertaining to a youth Agricultural Programme soon to be launched by both ministries.
