IICA – WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
It’s #WorldEnvironmentDay and John Hamilton, Resident British Commissioner to Antigua and Barbuda John Hamilton met with the National Specialist for the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), Craig Thomas. The work of IICA in Antigua and Barbuda to support sustainable agriculture directly supports the aims of this year’s Environment Day “Our land. Our future.” They are part of #GenerationRestoration.
IICA in Antigua and Barbuda has partnered with the Global Environment Facility to deliver projects. The UK is a major contributor to GEF and at the #SIDS4 conference our enduring partnership was highlighted as GEF marked 30 years of support for SIDS.
World Environment Day is the biggest international day for the environment. Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and held annually since 1973, it has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental outreach. It is celebrated by millions of people across the world, including the team at #bhcstjohns.
