MOE’s Agricultural Science Department Teachers Forum
This morning, Tuesday 16th April a meeting was held at the Department of Environment Conference Room for the Agricultural Science Lead teachers and Heads of the Agricultural Science Departments from all Primary and Secondary schools.
Hosted and facilitated by Mrs. Nicolette Francis, Ministry of Education Agricultural Science Department Education Officer under the theme “Growing Greatness!”. This meeting was the first time Mrs. Francis met with the combined educators and in attendance were twelve (12) Primary school teachers and eight (8) Secondary school teachers. Teachers from Barbuda were to be a part of this forum via zoom but unfortunately the island was having internet issues during the time of the meeting.
The main focus of the meeting was to inform the teachers on expectations of the Ministry and to receive feedbacks from areas that were addressed. Some of these were:-
1. Reports for Term 2
2. Review of the Inter-school Garden Competition
3. Review of the 2024 Agro Expo
4. The Ministry’s Mission and Vision Statements
5. The Agricultural Science Department Mission, Vision statements and goals
6. The Agricultural Science Department’s Strategic Framework
Attending on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture was Carol-Faye Bynoe-George, Communication Officer and Head Judge for the 2024 Inter-school Garden Competition. During the review of the competition, Bynoe-George discussed and shared with the participants on matters pertaining to the adjudication exercise and assured them that Ministry of Agriculture is committed to collaborate with (all and sundry) the Ministry of Education and by further extension other ministries, international, regional and local organizations, educators, gardeners, farmers and agro-processors.
At the meeting it was reiterated that EVERYONE must be on board in the Food-security quest and we should ALL thrive towards “GROWING GREATNESS”.
