NORTHWEST FARMERS MARKET

The Northwest Farmers Market held on 28th March did not live up to expectations since this was the first as stated by Mr. Victor Wade, the Northwest District’s Agricultural Officer.  He was ready to make any required improvements, but he was unprepared for the farmers’ and other stakeholders’ lack of engagement or cooperation.

“We clarified that there will be no fees for their use of the venue area. Even if the turnout was lower than expected, it was the first and won’t be the last. It is imperative that producers comprehend our roles as advisors, trainers, facilitators, and supporters. The Agricultural Extension Division is dedicated to supporting our farmers and encouraging consumers to buy and eat locally.” Wade stated.

Four agro-processors participated in the market.  They expressed their gratitude for the spotlight to be on Agriculture and also pledge their continued support for the other upcoming events.
