MOA POULTRY SEMINAR POORLY ATTENDED
The Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) through its Veterinary Livestock Division since September 2023 has been hosting seminars specifically for the poultry farmers. These sessions are hosted by Dr. Chere Kellman, veterinary officer every last Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. Over the past six months the attendance has been dwindling from fifteen farmers to the four that attended last night’s workshop.
There are over sixty registered farmers and the Ministry is appealing to ALL poultry farmers to attend, share their experiences and collaborate on making this section of the sector bigger and better. These sessions are very informative, interactive and beneficial.
Last night’s forum covered the following topics:
(1) UPDATES – (a) insurance (b) agricultural loans
(2) The benefits of an association
(3) The benefits of record keeping
(4) A synopsis on the Climate Adaptation Symposium in Livestock that was held on Monday 26th February
(5) Perusal of the Jamaican Poultry manual
Two of the farmers that attended also participated in the symposium and expressed their gratitude for these forums. Special invitation is extended to ALL poultry farmers registered and unregistered for the next seminar which is scheduled for March 28th in the VIP Lounge at the Multipurpose Centre.
