National Farmer’s Day 2023
National Farmer’s Day is observed and celebrated annually on 23rd December. The Ministry of Agriculture wishes to highlight our food producers from every sector. Honouring them is the least that is done to show our appreciation and gratitude. These producers are our crop and livestock farmers and by extension our Agro-processors.
Farmers are important members of society who produce a large portion of the food that is consumed. They deal with difficulties including erratic weather patterns, praedial larceny and financial strain but yet they persevere by using technology and sustainable techniques in their quest for productivity and efficiency.
In order to create a resilient agricultural sector, it will be necessary to integrate technology, sustainability, and biodiversity preservation for the future. Farming communities are sustained in part by public awareness and patronage, government policies and other supportive efforts.
We, are indebted to our hardworking and tenacious farmers who toil nonstop to cultivate the land and provide food for our communities. Their steadfast dedication and labour serve as the cornerstone of our subsistence, supplying the vital livestock and crops that provide us with daily sustenance.
We are able to enjoy the variety and amount of food on our tables because of their labour. Let us honour and value the priceless contributions made by farmers, realizing the critical role they play in our Nation’s Food Security and sovereignty.
