This training course focused on:
· an introduction of the current situation of China’s feed formula promotion, · sharing China’s experiences in the development of the feed industry, · focusing on topics related to feed formula promotion, · sharing other topics such as China’s national conditions and achievements of reform and opening up, · Chinese tradition and culture, and other agricultural lectures to carry out training activities.
Thematic discussions and exchanges were carried out through specific cases to inspire students to think about relevant measures for the development of the domestic feed industry. The training included: · Animal Nutritional Requirements and Feed Formulation Technology: mainly involving animal nutriology, feed formulation technology, etc. · Application and Development of Feed in Animal Husbandry: centering animal breeding management, feed grading, feed application technology, etc. · Feed Additive Technology: mainly introducing the ingredients of feed nutrient additives, ingredients of non-nutrient additives, nutrition improvement technology, etc. · Technology of Feed Formula Design: mainly including feed’s ingredients, feed conversion, feed classification, raw materials of feed, feed hygiene, nutritional value assessment of feed, etc. · Processing Technology of Compound Feed: mainly introducing new feed processing technology, new feed machinery technology, fast quality-detection technology, etc, combined with field visits. · Overview of the Development of Aquatic Feed and the Nutritional Needs of Aquatic Animals: mainly involving aquaculture and feed production, the aquaculture industry chain, the nutrition and needs of fish and shellfish, and the level of protein demand of different fishes. · Technology of Aquatic Feed Formulation and Processing: consisting primarily of the nutritional needs of aquatic animals, selection of raw materials for aquatic feed, composition measurement, formula calculation, processing machinery, etc.

According to Miss Gomes, the seminar was very informative, the research, data shared pertaining to seeds and their composition and the various field trips were interesting sections of the experience. Although, this seminar concentrated primarily on feed for aquatic and not terrestrial animals, it would be beneficial for the hydroponic/aquaponic farms.
“We, in the developing countries can learn so much more from this type of exposure; the commitment, the hard work, the research, and learn how to capitalize on every aspect in order to reach the optimal goal(s) of whatever project is embarked upon. Additionally, the field visits were eye-openers to me, they made me see how we need to duplicate some of what the Chinese have been doing, what they achieved and now they are sharing it with us. We were shown that the development of a nation needs total commitment from all stakeholders inclusive of the policymakers”. Gomes said.
