Regional Communications Training Workshop for BioSpace and ILM Communications Focal Points
On 14th and 15thAugust a Regional Communications Training Workshop for Biospace was held in Basseterre, St. Kitts. Miss Attieke DeSouza, Communications Officer from the Ministry of Agriculture and Ms. Sherrel Charles from the Environmental Awareness Group Communications Team represented Antigua and Barbuda at this seminar. Other representatives from Anguilla and Montserrat were also in attendance.
The Biodiversity Support Programme for ACP Coastal Environments (BioSPACE) Programme is aimed at increasing the capacity to manage and sustainably use marine coastal resources in the region while the Integrated Landscape Approaches and Investments in Sustainable Land Management (ILM) Project seeks to optimize the contribution of land to Agriculture, Food Security, Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, the preservation of ecosystems and the essential services they provide. Therefore, the training focused on project communications.
On both days, presentations were made by the Head of the OECS Communications Unit, Ms. Loverly Anthony, who focused on the correct way to construct press releases and Mr. Danny Moonie, a Communications Specialist within the OECS. At the end of the training, each Member State received a set of communications equipment which included: a camera, a tripod, camera lenses, a flash, a charger, and an extra SD card.
