Learner Support Summer Program: Field Trip to Body Pond
On 28th June 2023, the Learner Support Program (L.S.P) visited The Body Pond Rehabilitation Site in the Body Pond area. The L.S.P. group is comprised of students from the All Saints Secondary, Sir Novel Richards Academy and the Ottos Comprehensive Schools. As a part of the L.S.P. Summer Program, with week one’s theme being: “Let’s Explore the Rainforest, the Body Pond Nature Park was an ideal area to explore the “local forest” and learn about our tropical forests and the rehabilitation work.
The students arrived and were excited to get into action. They were divided into two groups to plant Raspberry and Mahogany trees. There where 20 trees to be planted. It was most noteworthy and to mention that the Forestry Officer commented that in all her years of conducting these exercises the L.S.P group was by far the most effective in planting and watering the plants. The students were attentive and followed instructions even in their excitement, thus proving that even with challenges, neurological or otherwise, quality work and activities can be had with just some guidance, little patience and do not forget with a lot of fun! Great job Forestry thanks for the experience and keep up the good work!
