Ministry of Agriculture hosted a Photography/Multimedia Workshop
A photography/multi-media workshop was held on Monday, May 15th for the different divisions within the Ministry of Agriculture. There were two presenters, Mr. Ken Isaac, a professional photographer and Mr. Elijah James, an entrepreneur in the field of web design and construction. The one major goal of this workshop was to educate the ministry’s staff on the correct methods of camera operation to achieve the best quality pictures possible.
The participants gained knowledge from Mr. Isaac, on the different image formats to utilize on social media as well as camera settings for achieving various effects. The group was taught to use natural lighting to create studio-quality images, especially if the photographs are taken outdoors. Participants were also educated on recognizing the significance of maintaining focus on the subject of the photo, making the picture come to life by adding inexpensive props, making appealing flat layers that are worthy of sharing, and performing minimal basic photo editing on their smartphones.
Insights were also gained on websites and other social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook from Mr. James. He began by having the group engaged in an educational game {Kahoot}, on his website and different social media platforms. The participants were able to gain information on the meanings of various website abbreviations and acronyms such as World Wide Web (www) and Random-Access-Memory (RAM). Additionally, he spoke about the different social media sites such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The sizes and other rules that apply when posting on social media apps were also mentioned so that the participants know what size and how the taken videos and pictures should look when posting for the public.
His method of disseminating the information was very engaging, competitive and fun. The participants who were victorious were given prizes. The workshop was considered to be a success as all who were present left with a better understanding of their cameras, smartphones and social media.
