BARBUDA BEFOUNDATION PROJECT

Day One of the Technical Activities under the Australian Aid project to support the Local Barbuda NGO the BeFoundation commenced on Tuesday with the installation of a drip irrigation system and plastic mulch.
This activity was led by technicians from the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) and Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Barbuda Affairs (MAFBA). The technical team was assisted by the workers from the Barbuda Council Agriculture Division along with the members from the BeFoundation.
The team will be in Barbuda for the week executing various activities under the project as well as supporting other local farmers on the sister Isle.
The team also met with the Principal and Agricultural Science Teacher of the Sir McChesney George School as well as members of the Barbuda Agriculture Division to discuss their challenges and what technical support can be offered.
