HUNDRED ACRE DAYCARE & PRESCHOOL SECOND VISIT
Yesterday we celebrated World Food Safety Day under the theme, “Safer Food, Better Health” and today the Hundred Acre Daycare & Preschool students and teachers received a visit from the Northern Area Community Nutrition Officer, Susan Gardner. She educated the children on the benefits of eating different types of fruits and safe steps to be followed when preparing the fruits for consumption.
Ms. Gardner also gave a demonstration with the help of Miss Catisha James and Crystal Williams (members of staff from Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries & Barbuda Affairs) and showed the children how to prepare a pineapple to be eaten with the steps given by Ms. Gardner. After the demonstration, the children were so happy to be able to sample pineapple slices, which they could not get enough of.
Miss James and Miss Williams handed over a box filled with local fruits such as; watermelons, cantaloupes, pineapples, soursop and papaya to the teachers who will distribute to the children.
