The Observance of Chemicals Awareness Week 2018 continued earlier today (Wed) with a Press Conference which was held at the Inland Revenue Department’s Conference Room.

The Press Conference was chaired by Chairman of the Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Control Board, Dr. Linroy Christian, who introduced the other members of the panel. From L-R: Dr. Christian, Dr. Janil Gore-Francis – Chief Plant Protection Officer, Mr. Gregory Bailey- Board Member and Projects Coordinator – Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Nneka Hull-James- Veterinarian-Veterinary and Livestock Division, Mr. Jerome Greene- Senior Public Health Inspector- CBH, Mr. Algernon Roberts – Chief Drug Inspector and Deputy Chief Pharmacist and Ms. Faye Edwards- Senior Drug Inspector, Principal Pharmacist in the Ministry of Health and Member of the Board of Inspectors for the Antigua Barbuda Pharmacy Council. Each individual spoke of their involvement with the management of chemicals and fielded questions from the media which addressed issues such as an integrated approach to the management of toxic chemicals, banned chemicals, the impact of pesticides/toxic chemicals on human and environmental health and enforced legislation regarding the importation, sale and use of toxic chemicals. Chemicals Awareness Week is being held under the theme,”A Toxic Free Future.”
