{"id":9551,"date":"2024-05-10T15:30:50","date_gmt":"2024-05-10T15:30:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/agriculture.gov.ag\/?p=9551"},"modified":"2024-05-10T15:31:39","modified_gmt":"2024-05-10T15:31:39","slug":"world-poultry-day-2024-by-carol-faye-bynoe-george","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/agriculture.gov.ag\/index.php\/2024\/05\/10\/world-poultry-day-2024-by-carol-faye-bynoe-george\/","title":{"rendered":"WORLD POULTRY DAY 2024 by Carol-Faye Bynoe-George"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>WORLD POULTRY DAY 2024 <\/strong>by Carol-Faye Bynoe-George<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/agriculture.gov.ag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/0e33b496-744c-49c9-85b8-eb8a3b3aaf10.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-9552\" src=\"https:\/\/agriculture.gov.ag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/0e33b496-744c-49c9-85b8-eb8a3b3aaf10-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>World Poultry Day celebrated annually on 10<sup>th<\/sup> May is aimed at increasing the awareness of how important domestic birds such as chicken, duck, turkey, geese and quail are important as a source of protein and food.\u00a0 They are the most consumed or used for their meat, eggs and feathers.\u00a0 Their contribution towards Food Security and the economy is very significant.<\/p>\n<p>Like every living animal there is always some type of disease(s) that will affect or negatively impact the good health of these birds.\u00a0 Two common diseases are Avian Flu (also known as Bird Flu) and Avian Leukosis. Once not detected early the affected birds would not grow and produce as they should. This can cause serious lost of revenue for the breeder.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, there are no reports made of these diseases here. Therefore, it seems safe to assume we were never affected.
