{"id":9412,"date":"2024-04-29T17:12:52","date_gmt":"2024-04-29T17:12:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/agriculture.gov.ag\/?p=9412"},"modified":"2024-05-01T19:23:28","modified_gmt":"2024-05-01T19:23:28","slug":"april-poultry-seminar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/agriculture.gov.ag\/index.php\/2024\/04\/29\/april-poultry-seminar\/","title":{"rendered":"APRIL POULTRY SEMINAR by Carol-Faye Bynoe-George"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday 25th the Veterinary and Livestock Division held its monthly Poultry Seminar.\u00a0 Since last month the focus has been on typical poultry diseases.\u00a0 Featured then were the diseases &#8220;<strong><em>Coccidia and Mycotoxins&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> and this month continued with another disease known as &#8220;<strong><em>Newcastle Disease<\/em>&#8220;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>Newcastle disease\u00a0 in chicken is a highly contagious viral infection caused by avian paramyxovirus serotype 1 virus among poultry, wild birds and caged birds. Depending on the strain, Newcastle disease can have a fatality rate of 100% with little to no symptoms. The viral part of Newcastle disease affects the respiratory system.
