\"\"I have been interested in agriculture since I was nine years old. As far as I can remember, I always liked plants, animals and farming. As I got older I became more interested in agriculture and more so when I was a student at the Ottos Comprehensive School (OCS). Additionally, when I discovered that my Alma Mater was where this science was first taught on Antigua and my present supervisor was fortunate to be one of the first students in the agricultural science over 40 years ago.<\/div>\n
As an Agriculture Science student I learnt more about the sector, the innovation and applied technology I therefore, grew deeper appreciation for many things that I took for granted. Through the years, I also got to do a lot of practical work and I enjoy it tremendously.<\/div>\n
This year, I was one of the participants for the internship with the Ministry of Agriculture and during this five-week summer session I learned a lot more about agriculture. This experience helped me understand science better but the part of the internship that interested me the most was when we went to the aquaponics and hydroponic farms. Additionally, during our visit to CARDI I also learnt more about soil, tissue culture, the conditions favourable for seedlings growth.<\/div>\n
Now working at the Ministry of Agriculture, it is my intention to further my training, to assist others especially more youth like myself. I want them to see agriculture through my eyes, become passionate about the sector and realize that it is a good path for food security, food sovereignty and our future. Agriculture is important for the Nation\u2019s health and wealth, therefore we all have our contributions to make and I am starting with me.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
