Every year on\u00a0September 16th<\/strong>, the world unites to observe\u00a0World Ozone Day<\/strong>, officially known as the\u00a0International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer<\/em>. This global commemoration marks the anniversary of the\u00a0Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer<\/strong>, signed in 1987. The Protocol is regarded as one of the most successful environmental agreements in history, as it brought together nations to phase out the use of harmful chemicals that were thinning the protective ozone shield around our planet.<\/p>\n

The ozone layer plays a vital role in shielding the Earth from the sun\u2019s harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Without it, life as we know it would face serious risks, including increased rates of skin cancer, cataracts, weakened immune systems, and severe impacts on agriculture, marine life, and ecosystems.<\/p>\n
