This UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) annual holiday has been celebrated since 2016. The theme for this year being \u201cRaising awareness about mangroves and their importance as self-sustaining ecosystems\u201d is a reminder to everyone that once left untroubled NATURE<\/strong> will and can take care of itself.<\/p>\n

We as custodians are required to desist from unconscionable behaviour and activities that according to reports have caused one (1) percent loss or the degradation of mangroves. Additionally, these types of indiscriminate activities have already contributed to an estimated sixty-seven (67) percent destruction of these ecosystems globally. Sadly, mangroves are disappearing three to five time faster than terrestrial forests.<\/p>\n

We are to be mindful of the many purposes and importance the mangroves. Some of these are:<\/p>\n
