{"id":30,"date":"2016-09-20T15:27:47","date_gmt":"2016-09-20T15:27:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/agriculture.gov.ag\/?page_id=30"},"modified":"2017-03-02T12:32:59","modified_gmt":"2017-03-02T12:32:59","slug":"pesticides","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/agriculture.gov.ag\/index.php\/pesticides\/","title":{"rendered":"Pesticides"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>PESTICIDES WITH NORMAL REQUIREMENTS<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Application dossiers should be bound in hard cover binders, and be submitted in<br \/>\ntriplicate. They should be correctly indexed in the order presented below for easy<br \/>\nreference.<\/li>\n<li>The package size (s) in which the product will be imported.<\/li>\n<li>Detailed literature in respect of the chemistry and composition of the product<br \/>\n(including percentages of all ingredients), its efficacy, toxicology, antidotes<br \/>\n(together with any available references) and precautions to be observed before,<br \/>\nduring and after use.<br \/>\nN.B. If the active ingredient is registered, only information on the<br \/>\nformulation and the composition of the product is required.<\/li>\n<li>Six sample copies of the label proposed to be used in connection with the new<br \/>\npesticide, along with samples of the packaging materials and inserts to be used for<br \/>\ntrade packages. Labels should be in the English language, and should conform to<br \/>\nthe labeling standards of the PTCCB.<\/li>\n<li>A certificate of analysis which contains:<br \/>\na) An assay report on a recent batch of the product analysed.<br \/>\nb) The method of analysis used (This is only required if the active ingredient is<br \/>\nunregistered).<\/li>\n<li>A duly authenticated and legalized certificate of free sale from the competent<br \/>\nauthority with whom the product is registered in the country of origin, and the<br \/>\nconditions under which it may be sold in that country, also a copy of the label<br \/>\nstamped as being approved by that Authority.<\/li>\n<li>A statement showing:<br \/>\na) The countries in which the product is registered for Free Sale other than the<br \/>\ncountry of origin.<br \/>\nb) Any country in which the product has been refused registration for Free<br \/>\nSale and the reasons for refusal.<\/li>\n<li>A certificate in the English language from the manufacturer, respecting the<br \/>\nsafety of the new pesticide, recommended conditions for use, and the<br \/>\nconditions under which it is recommended for sale.<\/li>\n<li>A copy of the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) or Product Data Sheet.<\/li>\n<li>A statement specifying the crop\/pests to be covered. State scientific names where<br \/>\npossible, application rate (dosage), and re-entry and pre-harvest periods where<br \/>\napplicable.<\/li>\n<li>Certificates should be authenticated by the Antiguan Embassy or Antiguan<br \/>\nConsulate in that country and in cases where none of these are present, by the<br \/>\nBritish High Commission or the British Embassy.<\/li>\n<li>An analytical standard is required (on request) for all products with a new active<br \/>\ningredient.<\/li>\n<li>The prescribed application fee of EC 500.00 five hundred made payable to the<br \/>\nMinistry of Agriculture\/PTCCB.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>PESTICIDES WITH LESS STRINGENT REQUIREMENTS<\/h2>\n<p>The following types of pesticides will have fewer requirements for registration:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0Any product or substance that is manufactured, represented, sold or used as a<br \/>\nmeans of directly or indirectly attracting or repelling any pest.<\/li>\n<li>This includes any compound or substance that enhances or modifies or is intended<br \/>\nto enhance or modify the physical or chemical characteristic of a pesticide to<br \/>\nwhich it is added.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For such pesticides the active ingredients must have a toxicity level classified above<br \/>\nthe World Health Organization (WHO) Class III category.<\/p>\n<p>The requirements for registration of these pesticides include:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A complete application form (Form1)<\/li>\n<li>Material safety Data Sheet (MSDS)<\/li>\n<li>Label (3copies)<\/li>\n<li>Name and address of the manufacturer<\/li>\n<li>Package sizes to be imported<\/li>\n<li>Crops and pest to be covered in Antigua<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Dossiers are to be submitted in triplicate.<\/p>\n<p>The Pesticides &amp; Toxic Chemicals Control Board reserves the right to request<br \/>\nadditional information.<\/p>\n<h2>PROCEDURE FOR REGISTRATION OF A PESTICIDE<\/h2>\n<div class=\"chart\">\n<div class=\"chart-box\">Application Form to be completed by Registrant<br \/>\nApplicant should be an Antiguan National or a company registered in Antigua.<\/div>\n<div class=\"arrow clearfix\">\n<div>\u2193<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"chart-box\">Application submitted to Registrar\u2019s office and checked for completion<\/div>\n<div class=\"arrow clearfix\">\n<div>\u2193<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"chart-box\">Only completed applications will be accepted.<\/div>\n<div class=\"arrow clearfix\">\n<div>\u2193<\/div>\n<div>Incomplete documents returned to registrant<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"chart-box\">Upon acceptance of application, a fee of EC $500.00 is to be paid to the Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Control Board.<br \/>\nOnly cash or manager\u2019s Cheques will be accepted. Cheques should be made payable to PTCCB receipt of payment to be returned to the Registrar\u2019s office.<\/div>\n<div class=\"arrow clearfix\">\n<div>\u2193<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"chart-box\">Application assessed by resource persons<br \/>\nRecommendations made to PTCCB.<br \/>\nDecision on the application made by PTCCB.<\/div>\n<div class=\"arrow clearfix\">\n<div>\u2193<\/div>\n<div>Application advised if registration is denied<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"chart-box\">Registration informed on conditions of registration<br \/>\nRegistration approved for a Three (3) year period.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>REQUIREMENTS FOR RE-REGISTRATION OF A PESTICIDE<\/h2>\n<p>Application dossiers should be bound in hard cover binders.<\/p>\n<p>Information required includes:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Three (3) copies of original label (not photocopies).<\/li>\n<li>A Material Safety Data sheet (MSDS) on the product.<\/li>\n<li>Details regarding the uses of the pesticide.
